Visualization and Terrain Modeling

Golf Course Design

I grew up playing golf in New England — walking courses, studying holes, and developing an appreciation for how terrain shapes strategy. Over time, that curiosity evolved into a serious pursuit of golf course architecture.

My professional background is in civil engineering, which gave me a foundation in grading, drainage, and understanding how land behaves. That training informs how I approach golf design — but my passion for the work comes from the game itself and the landscapes it's played on.

I've had the opportunity to learn alongside George Sargent, ASGCA, supporting his design practice through visualization, terrain modeling, and early-stage concept development. That collaboration continues to sharpen my eye for routing, contour, and the subtleties that separate good design from great.

Through RJA Terrain Works, I offer:

  • Routing studies and terrain analysis

  • 3D visualization and design modeling

  • Green and bunker rehabilitation concepts

  • Before/after transformation visuals

  • Field-informed design support

My goal is to help architects, superintendents, and clubs communicate design ideas with clarity — and to contribute meaningfully to projects that respect the land and the game.

If you're looking for engineering-minded support with a golfer's perspective, I'd welcome the conversation.
